Joel B. Colvin is a consultant and trainer specializing in Security, Firewalls and the integration of UNIX systems.  Mr. Colvin has been a Certified NetWare Instructor and teaches classes covering networking technologies and Internet security.  He is also an Advanced Certified Engineer for SCO UNIX, a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association and regularly attends security conferences such as SANS/GIAC. Before founding Colvin Training and Consulting, Inc., he was a Regional Systems Engineer for The Santa Cruz Operation, Vice President of Xnet, Inc. and a Regional Systems Engineering Manager for Tandy Corporation.   Mr. Colvin has worked with UNIX since 1982 and NetWare since 1986.  He is routinely asked to speak on security and other issues by fellow professionals.  Recently, he was asked to speak on the subject of security issues before the annual conference of the Texas Pentamation Users Group and the National LawNet University Conference.

Joel also is a Flight Instructor at Texas Taildraggers, Inc. and, by some people's standards, a crazy man.  He flew a single-engine airplane from Houston to London and back in May of 1999 and circled the Caribbean in 2001.  For details and pictures visit www.80days.org.  If you want to learn how to fly, just email him at joelc@ctchouston.com.

If that isn't enough, Joel also plays soprano and alto sax in the Houston Symphonic Band as well as some others on request.
